Why Are We Here?

Nestor Eguez

I always believed that there are so many important events in the life of a human being. Of course, first and foremost, the day that we born, but also our first step and our first day of school are going to be very profound moments in our early years. Then, when we start to mature, our first kiss and finding our partner in life are very decisive events in our existence. Well, sometimes these two can happen at the same occasion, but it’s rare. The day our children come to this world, when they get married and have their own kids are special moments to remember, too.

However, years ago I had the opportunity to find my purpose in life, that actually is to tell a story. After this amazing and incredible experience, I have to give credit to the legendary Mr. Twain. Don’t get me wrong, all of the other occasions are great and complete us in very different ways as human beings, but discovering why you are here is different. I think it’s because all the others circumstances in our life always involve someone else. On the other hand, this happened only between you and God.

A recent research found that only 5% of the world population know their mission on this world or at least have invested some time in figuring it. Maybe that’s the reason the world is the way it is today. The report also said that a great amount of people believe that being a good spouse, parent or mentor for somebody is their mission in life. In some cases it is, but in others it’s not.

Personally, finding the answer also brought me a lot of questions. Like, how I’m going to do this or when I’ll be prepare,…etc. A good friend of mine explained to me that this is the beauty of your purpose in life. You don’t know how it will be presented to you until it happens. He also said: “But don’t worry, If this is the true ride you have to take before you go, God is going to provide a reliable way of transportation.”

Finally, let me say this. If you are one of the 95% that is still wondering about your mission statement in life, I’m going to encourage to invest a little time on investigate it. Believe me, it’s worth it. Think that you’re going to have something in common with the great Mark Twain.
